Overview
Eight dancers, two nights, one city.
A streetwear label wanted a commercial that moved like the city after dark. We cast eight dancers across styles — hip-hop, vogue, contemporary — and rehearsed them into a single crew that could improvise on camera without losing the choreography.
The Challenge
Styles that refuse to blend.
Vogue arms and breaking footwork read as chaos in the same frame. The director needed contrast without collision, filmed mostly in single takes on real streets with no room for a large troupe to reset.
Our Approach
Cast translators, not just technicians.
We auditioned for musicality first and style second, then ran cross-style cyphers where each dancer learned the others’ counts. On set, the crew could trade eights mid-take and the camera never had to cut.
Deliverables
What the brand kept.
- Eight contracted dancers with style-cover doubles.
- Movement reels for the full edit and cutdowns.
- Still selects for print and window displays.
Outcome
Wrapped four hours early.
Single-take discipline meant the night shoots finished ahead of schedule, and the hero film ran across the brand’s flagship stores for a full season. Three dancers signed with the label’s agency partners.
