Overview
Fourteen dancers, one touring company.
A choreographer with a season of dates and no company asked us to build one. We auditioned across three cities, cast fourteen dancers with cover for every line, and rehearsed a full touring programme — contemporary, ballroom and street — in six weeks.
The Challenge
A company, not a cast list.
Touring exposes everything a single show hides: injuries, fatigue, understudy gaps, and fourteen personalities sharing buses and dressing rooms for months. Technique alone would not survive the schedule.
Our Approach
Cast for the road, rehearse for it too.
Finals ran as full simulated tour days — morning class, two show calls, a swing rehearsal — so stamina and temperament were auditioned alongside skill. Swings learned two tracks each before opening night.
Deliverables
What the company kept.
- Fourteen dancers plus four multi-track swings.
- A rehearsed two-act touring programme.
- Tour book: tracks, covers and show plots.
Outcome
Twenty-six dates, zero cancellations.
The tour completed its full run without losing a single performance to injury or cover gaps. The collective now holds the company’s casting for its second season.
