Overview
A voice ready for the camera’s close-up.
A label signed a remarkable singer with no screen experience and one summer to launch her. We coached performance for camera across six weeks — breath, eyeline, stillness — then directed her through a three-day video shoot.
The Challenge
Stage presence is not screen presence.
Everything that fills an arena reads as shouting in a close-up. The artist’s live energy was enormous — and on camera it flattened every intimate lyric in the song into the same big feeling.
Our Approach
Shrink the room until the song fits.
We rehearsed verse by verse at whisper volume, rebuilding the performance from the lyric outward. By shoot week she could hold a static close-up for a full minute and keep it alive — the take the whole video is cut around.
Deliverables
What the label kept.
- Six weeks of camera-performance coaching.
- On-set performance direction, three days.
- Press-day interview preparation.
Outcome
A debut that looked inevitable.
The video premiered to a first-week audience the label hadn’t dared forecast, and the artist’s live bookings tripled on the strength of a performance that finally matched the voice.
